Understanding Electric Distribution Services, Responsibilities and Complaint Hotline
Electric distribution services ensure safe and uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers. Distribution companies manage applications, meter readings, and handle power outages.

Electric distribution services are crucial in ensuring that electricity generated reaches consumers safely. Each region is served by an assigned electric distribution company responsible for maintaining the necessary infrastructure, performing meter readings, and handling tasks like power outages. In Turkey, according to the Electricity Market Law, distribution and supply services are managed by different entities.
Electric distribution companies do not handle electricity subscription applications; this responsibility lies with the electricity suppliers. However, distribution companies are in charge of installing and reading meters, as well as addressing any power outages.
To start an electricity subscription, consumers must apply with the required documents to the distribution company, sign a connection agreement, and then contract with a supplier. These processes are designed to ensure the uninterrupted and safe provision of electricity services.
Electric distribution rates are fixed, and discounted rates are available only through electricity suppliers. In case of power outages or issues, consumers across Turkey can contact the electricity complaint hotline at 186 for assistance.
