HIT-30 High Technology Program to Make Turkey a Hub for Electric Vehicle Production

Şekib Avdagiç, President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), stated that the HIT-30 High Technology Investment Program has turned the summer season into a time for technology and investment in the automotive sector, saying, "The incentives under the HIT-30 Electric Vehicles and HIT-30 Battery programs will make Turkey a hub for electric vehicle production."

Avdagiç evaluated the HIT-Battery Call and HIT Electric Vehicle Call incentives within the HIT-30 High Technology Investment Program, which was introduced with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Charging Turkey's Investment and Employment Battery

Avdagiç noted that the HIT-30 Program includes two significant calls related to the automotive sector: "The incentives under the HIT-30 Electric Vehicles and HIT-30 Battery programs will make Turkey a hub for electric vehicle production. This program, combined with the progress we will make in vocational training and the establishment of a comprehensive R&D infrastructure, will also charge Turkey's investment and employment battery."

A 'Supercharge' for the Transition to Electric Mobility

Avdagiç emphasized that the HIT-30 Program will act as a "supercharge" for Turkey's transition to electric mobility. He highlighted the importance of reducing inflation and stabilizing the investment environment to ensure the success of the incentives.

He also pointed out the significance of the 51% domestic production plan, a minimum production capacity of 150,000 vehicles, and the establishment of R&D centers as conditions for the incentives provided to plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) and fully electric vehicles. Avdagiç stated that these conditions would ensure that the incentives return to benefit Turkey.

Opening Doors to Thousands of Jobs

Avdagiç stated that the support and incentives provided through the HIT-Battery Call will open doors to thousands of new jobs: "The battery is perhaps the most critical component of an electric vehicle. Meeting the battery needs of car factories with local producers is crucial. Additionally, this will pave the way for new professions related to batteries. Technological transformation is an absolute necessity, and we must develop production and export strategies based on high technology to achieve sustainable growth."

Avdagiç concluded by saying, "Sustainable prosperity depends on high-tech investments and supporting competitive production. We must also achieve transformation in vocational training to foster qualified labor and support technological innovation, enabling local producers to compete in global markets. I believe that by implementing these steps in harmony, we will continue to make significant progress in making Turkey a center for technology and value-added production."
