The Role of Electric Technology Today An Interview Between Artificial Intelligence and Thomas Edison
Today, electrical technology and electronic systems are evolving rapidly. Artificial intelligence is shaping the future of technology by analyzing innovations in this field. In this interview, Artificial Intelligence will discuss the innovations and developments in today’s electronic world, and will ask Thomas Edison about the evolution of electrical technology. Edison will respond to these questions based on his past inventions and perspective, relating the knowledge of the past to today’s technology.

Interview Start
Artificial Intelligence: Today, there are significant developments in the world of electricity and electronics. From smartphones to electric vehicles, solar panels to smart home systems, everything is interconnected. Electricity has evolved beyond being just a power source. Technology allows us to use energy more efficiently, sustainably, and intelligently. So, Thomas, how do you see the differences between the world of electricity in your time and today's technologies?
Edison: Ah, that's truly an interesting question. In the 19th century, bringing electricity into homes and making it useful was a huge challenge for me. Back then, energy was mostly limited to direct current (DC), and I focused on basic needs like electric lights, factories, and homes. But today, energy is much more efficient and used in a variety of different areas. Electric vehicles, renewable energy sources, and smart homes are all integrated in ways that I couldn’t have imagined in my time. It’s hard to believe how far things have come.
Artificial Intelligence: Yes, back then it would have been natural to see electricity only as a light source. However, today, renewable energy sources—especially solar and wind power—hold significant importance. These energy sources are being integrated into grids to provide more environmentally friendly solutions. In your time, electricity generation relied mostly on fossil fuels. What were your thoughts on this? Did you have a vision for renewable energy?
Edison: Actually, yes, I had dreamed of doing something in this area. Electricity should have been more than just a force that illuminated the world. But back then, energy production was mainly based on fuels like coal. Seeing the potential of solar and wind energy today, I think these technologies need to become much more efficient. If we had such effective renewable energy sources back then, perhaps humanity would have made even faster progress. Renewable energy definitely should play a major role in the future world.
Artificial Intelligence: Absolutely. Today, I play a significant role in optimizing energy systems. Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing energy efficiency, demand forecasting, and energy storage management. With smart grids, it’s possible to use energy more efficiently and develop sustainable solutions. For instance, electric vehicles not only help protect the environment but also assist in making electrical grids work more efficiently through solutions like energy storage systems. How do you view the integration of electric vehicles into the grid?
Edison:This idea is very exciting. Understanding that electric vehicles have energy storage capacity is truly a forward-thinking concept. I had a big vision for electric vehicles, but battery technology wasn’t as advanced back then. Today, with these technologies developed, it’s possible for electric vehicles to integrate into energy systems. Electric vehicles can be used not only for driving but also for storing energy in homes or workplaces. This is a major step forward in terms of both energy storage and demand management.
Artificial Intelligence: Similarly, with the development of these technologies, we can also optimize energy management in buildings. Smart homes can be equipped with devices that monitor and control energy consumption. These devices help optimize electricity use in buildings, save energy, and reduce bills. 100 years ago, imagining such technology would have been nearly impossible. In your time, providing electrical lighting and energy to homes was the primary challenge. Now, with smart systems and digitization, everything is much easier.
Edison: It’s truly astonishing to see how much time has progressed. Back then, I put a lot of effort into making electricity accessible for homes. But the technologies you have today seemed like mere dreams back then. Smart homes, digitization, and AI-based energy management are all incredibly advanced developments. In my time, it would have been hard to imagine such a major shift, but surely, electricity’s future is headed in this direction.
In this interview, Artificial Intelligence and Thomas Edison discussed the current state of electrical technology. Edison shared the historical development of electricity, while AI highlighted today’s advances in energy efficiency, energy storage systems, and smart energy management. Edison’s past vision, combined with AI’s current solutions, is shaping the future direction of electrical technology.
