Global Electric Car Sales Increase by 21% in July

Electric car sales continue to rise globally. According to data released by the UK-based consultancy firm Rho Motion, 1.4 million electric cars were sold worldwide in July, representing a 21% increase compared to the same period last year.

While electric car sales in China surged by 31%, they declined by 8% in the European Union, European Free Trade Association (EFTA), and the UK. From January to July, global sales reached 8.4 million units, up 21% from the previous year. Of these sales, 5 million occurred in China, 1.7 million in the EU, EFTA, and the UK, 1 million in the US and Canada, and the remaining 700,000 in other countries.

Globally, 65% of the sales were fully electric vehicles, while 35% were Plug-In hybrid cars. This growth in the electric vehicle market highlights the increasing global interest in sustainable transportation solutions. China, in particular, continues to strengthen its leading position in the electric vehicle market, while the decline in European sales is noteworthy.

These developments underscore the significance of electric vehicles in the global automotive industry and their increasing market share.
