No Incentives for Solar Panels Manufactured Without Local Materials
The Ministry of Industry and Technology has decided not to provide incentives for solar panels manufactured without local materials. Learn more about solar energy investments and the importance of using locally produced materials in this article.

According to a new regulation issued by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, solar panels manufactured without the use of locally produced materials will not be eligible for incentives. This change aims to increase local production in Turkey's solar energy sector and promote the effective use of domestic resources.
Published in the Official Gazette, the amendment to the "Communiqué on the Implementation of the Decision on State Aid for Investments" excludes solar panels manufactured without using locally produced solar cells from the incentive certificate program. This regulation came into effect on August 24.
The Importance of Solar Energy and Local Production
Solar energy plays a critical role in Turkey's renewable energy goals. As of 2023, Turkey's installed solar energy capacity has surpassed 10 gigawatts, significantly contributing to the country’s total energy production. Solar panels help reduce reliance on fossil fuels in electricity generation, thereby contributing to environmental sustainability.
Who Can Invest in Solar Energy?
Solar energy investments can be made at both individual and corporate levels. Companies looking to invest in large-scale energy projects can benefit from incentives by choosing locally produced materials. Additionally, individual users can reduce their electricity bills and contribute to the environment by installing solar energy systems in their homes.
How Much Electricity Can Solar Panels Generate?
A typical solar panel can generate between 300-400 watts of electricity. A large-scale solar power plant can produce electricity on the megawatt level, covering a wide range of energy needs from household consumption to industrial use. Investments made using locally produced materials will not only be more economically advantageous but also contribute to the country's energy independence.
Promoting local production and more effectively utilizing domestic resources plays a crucial role in achieving Turkey's renewable energy goals. With this new regulation from the Ministry of Industry and Technology, investments using locally produced materials will be eligible for incentives. All entrepreneurs planning to invest in solar energy should take this regulation into account.
